Bearded Theory is once again making its case as one of the UK’s most cherished alternative festivals, preparing to bring its signature blend of creativity, community, and counterculture back to Catton Park, Derbyshire, from 20–24 May 2026. Set in a lush corner where the West Midlands, South Derbyshire, and Staffordshire meet, and within a two-hour trip for half the UK, the festival offers an idyllic backdrop and a welcoming atmosphere for anyone looking to launch their bank holiday and kick off festival season in style.
The festival has now revealed its second wave of performers, adding even more depth to an already eclectic lineup. Among the newly announced names are ’90s alt-rock icons Garbage, punk pioneers The Damned, acclaimed lyricist Kae Tempest, and indie-pop favourite Kate Nash. They’ll be joined by Mercury Prize winner Badly Drawn Boy, celebrated Irish songwriter CMAT, high-energy rockers Bad Nerves, Scottish indie heroes Idlewild, rising stars NewDad, beat-punks Kid Kapichi, dancefloor staples EMF, sibling duo The Magic Numbers, and many others.
Staying firmly rooted in its independent ethos, Bearded Theory continues to champion new and emerging talent alongside established acts, eschewing corporate sponsorship to keep its programming fresh, adventurous, and community-led. This year’s crop of newcomers includes 90s-leaning outfit Westside Cowboy, nu-metal rapper Native James, Irish dream-pop band She’s In Parties, UK punk collective Jools, and shoegaze heavyweights thistle., Boygenius-approved songwriter jasmine.4.t, and spoken-word provocateurs Good Health Good Wealth, among others.
These additions join previously announced headliners, including legendary alt-rock innovators Pixies, marking their 40th anniversary, and genre-blurring powerhouses Skunk Anansie. The bill also boasts Big Special, Lambrini Girls, Panic Shack, Peter Hook & The Light, Reverend and The Makers, Sprints, Goldie, Neville Staple, Utah Saints, Stewart Lee, Leba Hibbert with members of Toots and the Maytals, and a host of DJs, icons, and festival favourites.
Tickets for Bearded Theory 2026 are available now, with monthly payment plans running through to May to help fans spread the cost.
