Former Augustines frontman, singer-songwriter William McCarthy, today reveals his debut solo album Shelter will be released via Pledge Music on August 4th. The album is up for pre-order now and will be available to all pledgers about 2 months before going on general sale in late September/early October. Pre-order here.

McCarthy has recently finished second solo tour, titled Music For The People, during which her performed some of the new material live. Coinciding with the album announcement, the former Augustines Singer gives away an acoustic cover of Sade’s By Your Side via his website. Listen below.

The cover follows on from his first solo single Time Ain’t Always By My Side which is also available as a free download from McCarthy’s website. The track is a piano driven track that is reminiscent of Augustines’ softer material (think Weary Eyes or Landmine). Listen and download below.

The album has been produced by long-term friend and ex-bandmate Eric Sanderson and features appearances by Augustines drummer Rob Allen, and long-term collaborator Yannis Panos.

McCarthy also invites his fans to support his future projects – a podcast titled “Onward with William McCarthy”, new music and a book – via the crowdfunding website patreon.
