The Moonlandingz – Roustabout
The second teaser for their new album, No Rocket Required, is set for release next month. The Moonlandingz have launched “Roustabout,” featuring Nadine Shah. Known for her powerful vocals, Shah combines her sound with Johnny Rocket, portrayed by Lias Saoudi, in a narrative about a fallen indie icon facing personal struggles. Described by Rocked as “a fictional re-imagining,” the song explores the complexities of an ’80s music figure. “Roustabout” blends Shah’s emotive style with the band’s signature sound, offering a glimpse into the introspective themes of the album, a compelling preview of what’s to come. – Katie Macbeth
The Pill – Problem
What can be described as a fervent firebrand of a single, ‘Problem’ is the newest release from Isle of Wight natives, The Pill. A riotous marriage of feedback-laced guitar, relentless thundering percussion and vocals that are reminiscent of your favourite Riot Grrrl band, ‘Problem’ is yet another playfully energetic release from the two-piece. Whilst being both cacophonously chaotic and musically intricate, The Pill’s newest single is destined to be listened to at full volume. Queue some head-banging and maybe even some pogoing, as The Pill have produced yet another riveting number. – Elizabeth Guest
Marika Hackman – Skin (feat. Laura Marling)
To honour Marika Hackman’s debut album We Slept At Last turning 10, she has re-recorded “Skin” at the iconic Abbey Road with the help of Laura Marling. The song has been reimagined and “feels like I’m doing a cover of my own song”. It’s moodier, with layers of keys, guitar and vocals. It’s a beautiful, haunting reimagination, with Laura Marling’s vocal assistance adding depth and producing some spine-tingling harmonies. A real celebration of how far the artist has come since the original release. – Henry Dunn
caroline – Total Euphoria
This week saw the first single from caroline after a three-year hiatus, the sinuous and raw ‘Total Euphoria’. Taking on a sound that’s reminiscent of the likes of Slowdive but with a heavier, grittier intensity, this track demonstrates progression for the band since their 2022 self-titled album. From the vocals to the trombone and bass clarinet; the dynamic, layered sound this track possesses truly shows off all the facets of the eight-piece. ’Total Euphoria’ is exactly that! – Zoe McCormick
Humour – Neighbours
Glasgow-based outfit Humour are back in roaring fashion with their first release since 2023, ‘Neighbours’, via So Young Records. The Scottish punks have marked their arrival back to releasing music with intent. ‘Neighbours’ is a dark, intense post-hardcore, post-punk lovechild. Frontman Andreas Christodoulis’ haunting, howling
vocals, made up of outrageous yet exceptional lyricism, make for a raucous yet controlled, beautiful chaos. Humour sounds sharp, tight, loud and more confident than ever. Gearing up for what should be a loud, messy year, Humour are here to stay. Slip into your Crocs and enjoy the ride. – Tyler Wright
