Sorry Announces New Album, ‘COSPLAY,’ an Ambitious and Unshackled New Chapter

Multi-disciplinary group Sorry has announced their new album, COSPLAY, which is set for release on November 7th. The record is a sprawling and ambitious work that redefines the band’s creative boundaries. Described as a “dizzying whirlwind of ideas,” the album explores a world where past, present, and imaginary identities can all coexist, freeing the band from its creative shackles. COSPLAY follows the band’s 2022 record, Anywhere But Here.

The album is a culmination of Sorry’s “anything goes” approach, recorded across multiple studios with various collaborators to create its diverse feel. A key moment on the record is the track “Echoes,” a beautiful and poignant song inspired by a poem about a boy and his echo. The band expanded on this idea to create a song about losing oneself in love, where the “echo” becomes a third person in the relationship. This blurring of boundaries continues throughout the album, where a Guided By Voices track is reimagined, and theoretical physics inspires a heavy rock song.

Sorry’s Asha Lorenz says:

“Meet me at the butterfly sanctuary. Echo.”

The band road-tested much of the new material on a recent UK headline tour and a support tour with Fontaines D.C. Their upcoming live dates include a support tour with The Maccabees and a performance at All Points East on August 24th.
