Pretty Bitter's Pleaser: A Synth-Pop Sparkler.

Pretty Bitter’s Pleaser: A Synth-Pop Sparkler.

Hailing from Washington D.C, unique indie-synth five piece Pretty Bitter are set to release their latest album, Pleaser, on July 25th, 2025. Independent label Tiny Engines welcomes the band for this new album, with its sound being described as ‘a triumph, an instantly lovable record that reveals just how bright Pretty Bitter’s future is.’

Pleaser marks the latest release from the band since their full length debut Hinges back in 2022, and it is clear to say that the band have certainly not lost their bubbly, high-spirited sound since then. With captivating notes of pure joy and jubilation woven throughout the album – and the colourful synthesis of indie synth-pop and dream-pop on the tracks so far released – the remaining songs to be released are sure to satisfy already dedicated fans, and welcome newer listeners alike.

Three singles from the upcoming album have already been unveiled, with a notable track being ‘Outer Heaven Dude Ranch’, released over a month before the rest of the tracks on June 3rd, 2025. This piece is a catchy infusion of indietronica and synth-pop, with velvety layers of lead singer Mel Bleker’s vocals meshed together atop these sounds, ultimately pulling together a soaring, nuanced track. One of the longest and most upbeat tracks on the album, the result of these aspects combined is a brilliant display of Pretty Bitter’s overall sound – assured, elegant and unforgettably melodic.

The lead track on Pleaser comes in the shape of ‘Thrill Eater’. The first to hit streaming services back on May 6th, 2025, this single is a bold explosion of keyboard, synth, banjo and much more, providing us with a truly charming first track, and building anticipation and excitement for the rest of the album’s upcoming release. The colourful optimism that can be clearly heard on this track welcomes comparison to the sound of The Cranberries, a band that Pretty Bitter have previously been compared to by various reviewers. Featuring on Pitchfork’s Selects Playlist earlier this year, ‘Thrill Eater’ is an ebullient, sparky piece that is certainly not to be missed.

There is no doubt that Pretty Bitter have a long, bright future ahead of them, especially in the time that will follow the release of their new album. Pleaser is a simply gorgeous collection of tracks, and with a consistently growing repertoire of such uplifting, vibrant pieces of music that would surely put a spring in anyone’s step, the band are surely on track for many more successes and achievements in their future.
