Maxïmo Park to Celebrate ‘A Certain Trigger’ 20th Anniversary with Tour and Reissue

This year, Maxïmo Park’s acclaimed debut album A Certain Trigger marks its 20th anniversary. To commemorate the milestone, the band has announced a 2026 UK tour where they will perform songs from the album alongside their greatest hits. The tour will see them return to iconic venues, including London’s O2 Academy Brixton, and will culminate with a special hometown show at Newcastle’s legendary O2 City Hall.

In addition to the tour, the album will be reissued* on October 31st in a variety of physical formats, including single and double LPs, as well as a three-LP collection. The reissues will feature a selection of bonus tracks, including the previously unreleased Missing Songs and a Rarities & B-Sides CD that includes demos and session recordings from the era.

Lead singer, Paul Smith, states,

Not many bands make it to a twentieth year together so we’re having a big celebration, with a special 20th anniversary tour and by giving a fresh perspective to A Certain Trigger. Our first album remains dear to so many people, and compiling archive material for the reissue has been like entering a time machine – thrilling, but also a bit scary! Happily, we think the music has more than stood the test of time, and the tour, where we’ll revisit many of the beloved older songs, will be a joyful experience for both us and our audience. Playing live has always been at the heart of what we do, and we still feel the same exhilaration stepping onto the stage as we did in the beginning, but now with even more appreciation of the moment, and the roar of the crowds.

The Mercury Prize-nominated record, produced by Paul Epworth, arrived with a trio of iconic singles in “Apply Some Pressure,” “Graffiti,” and “Going Missing.” Released at a time when the indie scene was saturated with bands, Maxïmo Park stood out as bookish, livewire outsiders who masterfully blended punk energy, pop sensibility, and lyrical smarts. Their unique signing to Warp Records, a label known for its electronic roster, further suggested a band with its eyes set beyond the horizon.

Throughout its two-decade history, A Certain Trigger has cemented itself as a staple of the indie scene. The album remains a powerful curiosity of the 2000s, with its songs continuing to define the indie disco experience for many today, packing as much power now as they did upon their initial release.
