London art-rock outfit Man/Woman/Chainsaw have unveiled their ambitious new single, “Get Up and Dance.” The track marks the fourth preview and the first song to feature Emmie-Mae Avery on lead vocals from their highly anticipated debut studio album, Cannonball, which is set for release on August 7th via Fiction Records. Recorded at the legendary RAK Studios alongside producers Seth Evans and Margo Broom, the single lands alongside the announcement of a UK record store in-store tour to support the upcoming album.

“Get Up and Dance” leans heavily into Man/Woman/Chainsaw’s distinct, maximalist orchestral dynamics, driving forward with cinematic synth arrangements and soaring string lines that dive and circle in unison. Conceptually, Avery frames the track as a playful yet sharp subversion of nightlife dynamics, tracking a high-stakes game of cat-and-mouse on a club dancefloor. The release follows a wave of continuous momentum for the group, whose previous singles “Adam & Steve,” “Only Girl,” and “Nosedive” all secured heavy rotation and coveted spots on the BBC Radio 6 Music playlist.

Emmi states,

“In my mind it’s set in a club, where you spot someone who’s been trying their luck with different people all night and decide to turn the game back on them. It starts playful but then takes a forceful approach, as you push them to prove their interest and test how far they’ll go, aiming to have them make a fool of themselves.”

Cannonball will be available across several physical formats, including an eco-mix black vinyl, a limited-edition berry-colored LP featuring a signed insert, and a highly collectable Rough Trade exclusive blue and clear splatter vinyl package that comes paired with a bonus, exclusive 7″ single. To celebrate the release this August, the band will be hitting the road for a nationwide series of intimate live in-store performances and signings at independent record shops across the country.
