Today, Hotline TNT, the New York-based project of indie loyalist Will Anderson, has shared their new single, ‘Protocol’. The single arrives partnered with the announcement of Hotline TNT’s signing to Jack White’s record label, Third Man Records.

Giving off the same energy as feeling upset in the middle of a party, ‘Protocol’ is both sun-swept and sad, driven by its upbeat guitar jangle and a punishing rhythm section. Speaking of the track, Anderson states:

This song is about falling on a sword — sometimes you just gotta hold an L even when in your heart of hearts you know it’s not fair. Saving the relationship is worth taking the blame now and again.

The single arrives with its accompanying music video, directed by Fiona Kane – who states, ‘It’s a rock n roll push and pull silent comedy for summer. The most important parts of summer are beating the heat and listening to rock music.’

After pushing on despite seemingly endless line-up changes, Hotline TNT’s 2021 debut on California-based taste-maker label, Smoking Room, spotlit his love for strong hooks and distortion. Touring relentlessly, their audience steadily bloomed, with Nineteen In Love becoming a much-loved LP.
