Today, Bedford’s Dog Race have released their fourth single, ‘The Leader’, a fever dream of a track combining dark, cultish imagery and haunting choral chants. The single follows on from the success of their debut single, ‘Terror’, produced by Jessica Winter, ‘There’s A Mouse In My House’ and the energetic ‘It’s The Squeeze’ – both produced and mixed by Ali Chant (known for his work with Dry Cleaning, Sorry, Portishead).
Speaking of the single, vocalist Katie Healy states:
‘The Leader’ feels like the perfect continuation from ‘It’s The Squeeze’, building on our newly defined sound yet teasing how much more we have to offer. It sets its narrative around a protagonist who is thrown into inner turmoil when confronted with a fee to cross into the afterlife, convinced she had already paid her dues.
‘The Leader’ arrives paired with a captivating visual evoking folk horror, featuring Healy being buried alive.
Dog Race are a band that truly understands the value of patience, garnering a devoted following by organising a series of enigmatic, often impromptu DIY performances throughout London. The band have generated interest on the live circuit from their performances supporting the likes of Francis of Delirium, Fat Dog, Maruja, M(h)aol, Nightbus, Voka Gentle, Nuha Ruby Ra, and Oslo Twins.
