Stockholm alternative quartet Clutter have returned with their explosive new single “GirlVsHeart,” out today via PNKSLM Recordings. Fresh off being named the sole Scandinavian act on the prestigious NME 100 for 2026, the young four-piece fuses ’90s grunge with an intense riot-grrrl thrash, diving headfirst into themes of romantic chaos.
“GirlVsHeart” captures the 21- and 22-year-old outfit at their most immediate, combining heavy-hitting arena-rock ambitions with mosh-pit-ready punk dynamics. Driven by jagged riffs, pounding rhythms, and a raw, fiercely vulnerable vocal performance, the track thrives on the direct tension between abrasive, distorted guitars and fuzzy melodies. The band utilises this chaotic sonic backdrop to create a breathless sense of emotional urgency that cuts straight to the core of modern relationship anxieties.
Of the track, the band states,
“GirlVsHeart” is a loud and all-consuming rock song. It’s a heavy-hitting, almost arena rock like song about love. The contrast between the lyrical topic and the sound and attitude creates a feeling of urgency that pierces straight through the heart”.
The release builds on a massive wave of international momentum following their 2025 debut EP, Clutter Loves You, and a string of high-profile appearances at Pitchfork Music Festival London and Eurosonic Noorderslag. Having already toured the UK with Hinds and earned heavy praise from Stereogum, DIY, and BBC 6 Music, Clutter continues to prove they can effortlessly balance punk-fueled intensity with meticulous musical control, cementing their status as one of the most vital new voices in the Nordic underground.
