Nashville-based, Minnesota-raised singer-songwriter Brennan Wedl has signed to iconic indie label ANTI- Records, announcing her self-titled solo debut album slated for release on August 21st, 2026. Formerly a core member of the beloved cult DIY band Dazey & the Scouts (Maggot), Wedl is embarking on a clean solo slate. The album announcement is spearheaded by the lead single “Pretty Little Fantasy”, a snarling rock track exploring gender expression and personal power, accompanied by a gleeful, self-directed music video.

“Pretty Little Fantasy” sets a fierce, uncompromising tone for the record, seamlessly blending the gritty alternative edge of Hole with the massive, hook-filled sensibilities of Sheryl Crow. Lyrically, Wedl pairs evocative imagery of bleeding teeth and crawling creatures to prod at societal expectations, turning the track into an anthem for navigating the reckless, murky chaos of your twenties. The track establishes Wedl’s mission statement for the solo project: reclaiming her own narrative by completely disconnecting from the gaze of others.

The production of Brennan Wedl is a star-studded, collaborative triumph. Wedl enlisted Katie Crutchfield (Waxahatchee) and Brad Cook (Bon Iver, Hurray for the Riff Raff) to co-produce and play on the record. Tracking live as a band over a 10-day sprint at Cook’s studio in Durham, North Carolina, the studio lineup also boasts contributions from Lindsey Jordan (Snail Mail), Colin Croom, and Matt McCaughan. Together, the collective cooked up a raw, unprecious sound they affectionately dub “grungetry”, a unique sonic intersection where live punk, heavy 90s grunge, and rootsy Americana collide.
