Black Country, New Road has released “For the Cold Country,” the latest single from their highly anticipated album, Forever Howlong, set to arrive on April 4th via Ninja Tune. The new track precedes Forever Howlong, the band’s first studio album since their critically acclaimed 2022 release, “Ants From Up There,” which followed their Mercury Prize-nominated debut, “For the first time.” The album also follows their 2023 live release, “Live at Bush Hall,” hailed as a “magical resurgence” by The Guardian.

“For the Cold Country” features May Kershaw on lead vocals, building from layered choral melodies to a dynamic, rhythmic climax. The track highlights the band’s mastery of dynamic shifts and their ever-evolving songwriting.

Produced by James Ford (Fontaines D.C., Arctic Monkeys), Forever Howlong marks a significant evolution for the band, with vocal duties and songwriting now shared among Tyler Hyde, Georgia Ellery, and May Kershaw. The album’s announcement was accompanied by the release of the well-received “Besties,” followed by “Happy Birthday,” showcasing the album’s thematic connections while maintaining individual song distinctiveness.

Black Country, New Road has announced a comprehensive 2025 tour in support of their upcoming album. The tour will commence with a series of intimate UK shows in April, where the band will perform Forever Howlong in its entirety to celebrate the album’s release. Following the UK dates, the band will embark on a US leg and make appearances at prominent festivals, including Pitchfork Music Festival CDMX, Primavera Sound, Paredes De Coura, Lowlands, and End Of The Road. A full UK and European tour is scheduled for September and October, culminating in their largest headline show to date at London’s O2 Brixton Academy.
