Emerging from Liverpool’s thriving independent music scene, the trio DBA! have released their brand new single, ‘A poet and a clown,’ available today. This track serves as the first official preview of the band’s second EP, which is highly anticipated and scheduled to arrive in spring 2026. Birthed in a DIY demo studio located beneath a Liverpool nightclub, DBA! has rapidly become known for their signature sound: introspective, unpolished, and intensely weird guitar-driven music laced with vivid lyricism. This unique approach has garnered them widespread support since the release of their debut EP, skip! Worried, earlier this year.

The group has earned immense attention from key radio tastemakers, receiving substantial airplay across the BBC 6 Music airwaves from influential figures including Iggy Pop, Huw Stephens, Craig Charles, Abbie McCarthy, and Emily Pilbeam. Beyond radio support, DBA! has gained fanfare from major indie press outlets such as Dork Magazine, DIY Magazine, and So Young. Building on this momentum, the band has successfully ticked off major support slots alongside respected acts like White Denim and Being Dead.

Frontman Sam Warren detailed the core themes of the new release, stating:

“‘A poet and a clown’ is a confessional story of desire tangled with religious guilt. A late night prayer you can dance to, wrestling shame soaked lust with rosaries banging against bedroom walls.”

DBA! is preparing a full live plot to coincide with their second EP campaign, signalling that their story is just beginning to unravel on a national scale.
