Wunderhorse has just released their new single, “The Rope,” hot on the heels of a triumphant, sold-out UK tour that wrapped up at Alexandra Palace. The band also made their debut appearance on Jools Holland yesterday (June 1st).

“The Rope” mirrors the raw spontaneity of their recent album, Midas. Conceived and recorded swiftly with producer Loren Humphrey at London’s RAK Studios, the track captures the urgent, in-the-moment energy that defined their biggest headline shows to date.

Forged in the legendary Minnesota’s Pachyderm Studio—a site famous for landmark albums like Nirvana’s In Utero and PJ Harvey’s Rid Of Me—Wunderhorse’s August 2023 release, ‘Midas,’ stands as a bold statement of intent. Produced by industry veteran Craig Silvey (The Rolling Stones, The National), this album consciously eschewed polish for raw power, a testament to the band’s growing stature in British guitar music.

“We wanted it to sound very imperfect, very live, very raw,” explains frontman Jacob Slater. “Like your face is pressed up against the amplifiers, like you’ve been locked inside the bass drum.”

This philosophy bleeds through every track, delivering the potent, unadulterated atmosphere that defines Wunderhorse’s explosive live shows. Following their acclaimed 2022 debut, Cub, Midas has propelled the band into a stacked summer, with key performances slated for Glastonbury (Park Stage), Reading + Leeds, Green Man, Bilbao BBK Live, TRNSMT, and Lollapalooza.
