Tunde Adebimpe, renowned as the frontman of TV on the Radio, has released ‘God Knows,’ the latest single from his highly anticipated solo debut, Thee Black Boltz, set to drop on April 18th via Sub Pop Records. It’s a significant milestone for Adebimpe, offering a glimpse into a more personal and introspective side of his artistry.

‘God Knows’ delves deep into the complex emotions of a bittersweet breakup. Adebimpe’s distinctive vocals, coupled with raw and vulnerable lyrics like, “You’re the worst thing I ever loved, And you’re bad news but I still want to give you my love,” capture the essence of heartbreak with unflinching honesty. The song effectively showcases his ability to translate profound emotional experiences into compelling and resonant music.

Of the single, he states,

Breaking up is hard to down dooby doo down do.

The release of ‘God Knows’ arrives after the striking singles ‘Drop’ and ‘Magnetic,’ further revealing the sonic breadth of Thee Black Boltz. Produced by Adebimpe and Wilder Zoby, with executive production by Zoby and contributions from his TV on the Radio bandmates, the album is a carefully crafted work. It demonstrates Adebimpe’s commitment to dissecting the human experience through his music, capturing both the grandeur and the minutiae of our lives.
