Tracks of the Week: bar italia, Spiritual Cramp, Cardinals, Pyncher, and More!

The IINAG team’s favourite releases of the week, ready for you to give a listen to:

bar italia – rooster

Alluring, teasing vocals set to a backdrop of grunge-esque guitar is bar italia’s bread and butter, yet the London three-piece go one step further with the release of their newest track, ‘rooster’. The third single to be lifted from their upcoming album, ‘Some Like It Hot’, ‘rooster’ orbits around a kinetic rock core, whilst vocal duties riotously ricochet between Nina Cristante, Jezmi Tarik Fehmi and Sam Fenton. Surging with fervent dynamism, ‘rooster is evidence of a bar italia who are more self-assured, but who have undeniably retained their trademark shadowy sleaze. – Elizabeth Guest

Cardinals – Masquerade

The title track from Cardinals’ highly anticipated debut album, “Masquerade,” is one of their most personal releases to date. This evocative song peels back emotional walls, exploring the uncomfortable yet beautiful nature found in genuine vulnerability. By stripping away the layers of this “masquerade,” the band creates a powerful work that reveals intimate experiences and offers an honest reflection on the messy parts of ourselves we often hide. With haunting melodies and poignant lyrics, the song encourages listeners to confront their hidden fears and insecurities, fostering a sense of connection in the shared struggles of the human experience. – Lauren Moreton

Pyncher – Steely Dan

Already a fan-favourite anthem since its initial release, Pyncher has repurposed their single, ‘Steely Dan,’ to announce their debut EP. Exploding with pent-up anger and visceral rage, marked by guttural vocals, the track is a blistering statement both cathartic and thrilling, cementing the band’s position as a formidable force in their scene – Katie Macbeth

Snooper – Pom Pom

In their latest single, “Pom Pom,” Snooper presents a frantic and joyous dose of their signature garage-punk. The track, from their new album Worldwide, gleefully embraces the “cheerleader vocals” that have become a hallmark of their sound. A blistering rush of energy, it serves as a powerful testament to the band’s frantic, artful aesthetic. – Ollie Thomas

Spiritual Cramp – Automatic

San Francisco punks Spiritual Cramp have unveiled “Automatic,” the final single from their upcoming album, RUDE. The track is a masterful fusion of their raw punk foundation with a new, pop-infused swagger. With its Clash-indebted guitars and a soaring chorus, “Automatic” showcases the band’s ability to craft songs that gleam with pop appeal without sacrificing their gritty edge. – Katie Macbeth
