Tracks of the Week: Florence + The Machine, The Wytches, Indigo De Souza, Courting, and More!

As the final full week of September comes to a close, a wealth of new releases is left in its path. Check out the IINAG team’s picks below:

Florence + The Machine – One of the Greats

In Florence and the Machine’s new single, “One of the Greats,” Florence Welch delivers a powerful rock anthem that captures the struggles of female artists. This track, the second teaser for her upcoming album Everybody Scream, explores the sacrifices and self-destructive tendencies that accompany artistic life. The raw instrumentation features a chugging, Nirvana-esque guitar riff, which complements Welch’s poignant vocals. Stripping away the industry’s superficial glamour, she candidly addresses the demands of her craft, reinforcing her status as a formidable figure in contemporary music. With this release, Welch solidifies her place as a true artistic powerhouse, fearlessly confronting the complexities of her journey. – Katie Macbeth

Indigo De Souza – Serious

Synonymous with flamboyant, uncanny-valley album covers and kaleidoscopic soundscapes, the North Carolina-based Indigo De Souza has returned with the bedroom-pop intonations of ‘Serious’. Marking the first release since her fourth record, ‘Precipice’ was unveiled earlier this year, De Souza’s new venture boasts honeyed vocals and soothing instrumentation. A collaborative effort with Mothé, ‘Serious’ explores anything but, instead forgoing heaviness and laying straight the importance of letting go and having fun; “How’s everyone having so much fun / Don’t be so serious”. Breezy and bright, ‘Serious’ is the perfect way to see out Summer. – Lana Williams

Witch Fever – SAFE

Witch Fever’s latest single SAFE is a bold, euphoric entry ahead of their second album FEVEREATEN. The Manchester post-punk four-piece craft a wall of sound that’s both raw and intelligent, with Amy Walpole’s vocals shifting seamlessly from fragile to fierce. “Let you slowly become mine / Special for a time but it wasn’t right,” she sings – a haunting reflection on a past love. It’s a blast of emotion and noise, turning pain into power. – Henry Dunn

The Wytches – Talking Machine

The Wytches have debuted the video for “Talking Machine,” the title track from their upcoming album. The song explores the historical fear of technology replacing artists, a theme inspired by frontman Kristian Bell’s research into Thomas Edison’s “Tone Tests.” The single draws a striking parallel between the invention of the gramophone and modern anxieties about AI, serving as a powerful, timely commentary. With its release ahead of the album on October 10th, “Talking Machine” positions itself as a central piece of a record that confronts the unsettling relationship between art and technology. – Katie Macbeth

Courting ft RKXNephew– Rollback Freestyle

Indie steady-risers Courting have had an unparalleled Summer; from touring the US with Slow Fiction, and gracing Oxford’s Truck Festival. The Liverpool quartet champion infectious indie rock (‘We Look Good Together’), while at the same time never shying away from stripping it back for more mellow offerings (‘Eleven Sent (This Time)’). Teaming up with New York rapper RKXNephew, the latest single release, ‘rollback freestyle’ is the more drilling and upbeat sister of their 2025 album’s opener, ‘Rollback Intro’. Heavy-hitting and thunderous, this is a refreshing and completely distinct offering from Courting and co. – Lana Williams
