Touts return with new single ‘Shane MacGowan’s New Teeth’, announce new EP

Irish punk trio Touts make their return with raucous new single Shane MacGowan’s New Teeth. The band have also announced a brand new four-track EP set to arrive this spring. Check out the video for Shane MacGowan’s Teeth. below.

Shane MacGowan’s New Teeth is their first new music since 2018’s Analysis Paralysis EP and is an unambiguous reference to The Pogues’ front man’s widely-publicised dental work undertaken in 2015. Lead singer Matthew Crossan comments:

Shane McGowan’s New Teeth is “a simple desultory philippic” against the overlooked absurdity of our modern lives and the seeming inescapable throwaway culture that many of us celebrate.

Touts is one hell of a band name. Anyone who’s ever been to a gig in the UK will immediatally think of those bastards who sell overprised tickets for your favourite band. The Irish definition is slightly different and refers to someone who informs the police of illegal activities.

The band, consisting of Matthew Crossan, Jason Feenan and Luke McLaughlin, started out in 2017 when they were still teenagers. Having sold out venues in Ireland even prior to releasing any music, Touts have since played with the likes of Blossoms and Cabbage. Five years later, they have done away with their “16/17-year-old frustration and all that sh*t” and are eager to return to the stage. Stay tuned for some new tour dates.
