Bristol punks The New America have today released their new single, Hong Kong Free Press, their 4th track, following on from their previous release Going To The Races (Dressed Like a Racist). Listen below.

Hong Kong Free Press is a call for people to recognise those who are ‘fighting the good fight’ and the band aim to make people acknowledge their own failures and aim to do the same. The track was written in 2019, a time where people were becoming increasingly aware of the demonstrations and protests surrounding democracy in Hong Kong, since then there has been a realisation that the threat is actually ‘much closer to home’.

Since starting their musical careers back in 2018, The New America have had the pleasure of working with the likes of Football FC, Dead Naked Hippies, Straight Girl and many more. With Hong Kong Free Press, the band truly excel, reminding us to keep our eyes and ears open, acting quickly and decisively when we can.
