With a nod to Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker, The Lathums kick of the year with a monochrome widescreen James Slater-directed video for their track Foolish Parley. Watch and listen below.

The track originally appeared on the Ghost EP, released in October 2020, which earned the Wigan band a spot on the BBC Sound Of 2021 longlist, an appearance on Later… With Jools Holland and a week-long BBC Radio One residency on the BBC Introducing Playlist.

Front man and lyricist Alex Moore comments on the track:

Being honest, this just came to me out of nowhere, I can’t pinpoint from exactly where or why. Like a lot of songs, it was something that flowed freely, working first time and, sometimes, it takes no more thinking about than that.

While their 2020 headline tour as well as dates with Blossoms and Paul Weller did not happen due to the coronavirus pandemic, The Lathums are ready to hit the road again this spring, including their first ever European shows (tickets here).
