South London sibling duo PUNCHBAG (Clara and Anders Bach) have announced their sophomore EP, “I Am Obsessed”, scheduled for release on April 10th via Mute Records. The announcement is accompanied by the title track, a restless piece of left-field pop that pairs off-kilter piano stabs with lyrics exploring the visceral, suffocating nature of fixation. Marking a major milestone for the band, the EP will be part of their first-ever physical release, a Dinked Early Doors vinyl that combines the new project with their debut EP, I’m Not Your Punchbag.
Clara Bach detailed the overwhelming sensation behind the lead single:
“It’s about being completely obsessed with something or someone, but not in a cute way, more in a ‘your whole body is under attack’ kinda way. It’s sort of disordered, chaotic, overwhelming.”
The band further explained the shift in perspective between their debut and this upcoming second EP:
“If our first EP was a selfie, these new songs are like zooming in and thinking, ‘fucking hell my pores look huge’. This EP is turning up the contrast on everyday life, rinsing the disgusting dish towel so far that all the gunk comes out. It’s pushing PUNCHBAG’s sonic world even further, into a grander landscape, and dramatising the everyday more than ever before.”
Known for their “unfiltered energy” and a live show that often feels more like group therapy than a standard gig, the duo continues to push their sonic world into a grander, more dramatic landscape. This new collection of songs follows the success of their 2025 single “I Love This!” and sees the band leaning harder into the emotional extremes and “everyday gunk” that define their creative mission.
