Up and coming Sydney rockers Planet today release their debut EP Waking Eight. The EP includes previous singles Aching Dream and Save.Sold as well as three previously unreleased tracks. Listen to the EP in full below. The quartet are currently in the UK alongside fellow Aussie band DMA’s.

The EP’s release has been a long time coming as vocalist Matty Took explains:

We’ve worked with some great people and friends throughout the recording process, filming and artwork for this collection… It’s our first EP to be released and I reckon it says a lot about what’s to come in the next few years. We would love to drop album after album, every few months, but I doubt people would have the same connection to the songs.

Although all songs were written and recorded in Took’s bedroom in Sydney, Waking Eight was eventually engineered and produced by him and renowned producer Lachlan Mitchell (Jezebels, Little Bastard).

Consisting of Matty Took (younger brother of Johnny Took of DMA’s – vocals and rhythm guitar), Tom Peppitt (lead guitar), Harrison Stewart-Weeks (drums) and Jimmy Weaver (bass), Planet were first brought together by their shared love of music. After releasing a hand full of singles in 2016, the band was added to high rotation on Triple J Unearthed.
