Natalie Wildgoose Unveils “Nobody on the Path” Ahead of New EP Rural Hours

Natalie Wildgoose, the London and North Yorkshire-based artist known for her spectral power and trembling melodies, has shared her new single “Nobody on the Path.” The track serves as the first glimpse into her upcoming EP, Rural Hours, arriving April 15th via state51. Following the breakout success of her 2025 self-released debut, Wildgoose continues to bridge the gap between unearthed archival folk and the raw, untamed environments of the Yorkshire Dales.

Of the single, Natalie describes,

The moors record what happens on them. I think the body does the same… I wanted to capture those thoughts and feelings you get on solitary walks in the dales, finding quiet in the hills. This song took shape during a very real, and at points unpredictable, hormone cycle… Sometimes the path wanders, and you will wander with it.

True to her DIY but deeply atmospheric recording ethos, Rural Hours was captured in a remote bothy high in the Dales, a two-hour trek from the nearest village, lacking both heating and electricity. Supported by the PRS for Women fund, Wildgoose was joined by musicians Chris Brain and Owen Spafford, recording by candlelight and the natural crackle of a fireside. The result is a richer folk ensemble sound that moves beyond her solo piano roots while maintaining the intimacy of her previous work.

Wildgoose’s ascent has been marked by heavy praise from BBC Radio 6 Music (Guy Garvey, Cerys Matthews) and critical comparisons to Molly Drake and Sibylle Baier. Her live momentum remains equally formidable; following tours with Jake Xerxes Fussell and slots at Green Man, she is currently set to support LYR (the trio led by Poet Laureate Simon Armitage) on their UK tour. The run culminates in her largest headline show to date at Stoke Newington Old Church this May.
