MF Tomlinson has announced his third studio album, “Die To Wake Up From A Dream,” set for release on July 11th via PRAH Recordings. The album follows his critically acclaimed works, “Strange Time” (2021) and “We Are Still Wild Horses” (2023), which garnered praise from publications like Uncut, Mojo, and The Times.

“Die To Wake Up From A Dream” explores the complexities of contemporary human experience, utilizing a blend of organic and electronic soundscapes. Tomlinson, producing the album in his London studio, incorporates elements of folk, shoegaze, art-rock, prog, and orchestral traditions. The meticulously crafted album is described as a “psychoacoustic odyssey.”

Accompanying the announcement is the release of the album’s nine-minute title track, “Die To Wake Up From A Dream.” The song, drawing sonic inspiration from John Martyn, Talk Talk, and My Bloody Valentine, delves into themes of childhood nightmares and the weariness of modern life.

Of the track, Tomlinson states,

It speaks to the sensation of drowning in the years. Scenes flash by so fast we soon know that we are in a dream, then a nightmare. It makes sense to start here – but there’s almost too much to tell. This is one story – but listening to the songs speak to each other is the true meaning of the album. One world is always dreaming of the other.

MF Tomlinson is set to support Melin Melyn on tour this month.
