Los Angeles screamo trio Knumears have dropped their latest track, “My Name,” a crushing follow-up to their buzzed-about lead single “Fade Away.” Set to arrive on April 3rd via Run For Cover Records and Summer Shade, their debut album Directions is already being hailed as a “screamo tour de force.” Recorded by the legendary Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Gouge Away) at Atomic Garden, the new single perfectly captures the band’s signature blend of blown-out bass lines, shredded vocals, and the chaotic-yet-melodic spirit of 90s skramz.

Since forming, Matthew Cole, Dante Garcia II, and Frankie Lopez have built a reputation for relentless touring and heart-wrenching catharsis. By bridging the gap between old-school emoviolence and punchy modern hardcore, Knumears are positioning themselves as the new torchbearers for the genre’s most passionate corners. For the band, this sound is less about a specific label and more about the intellectual and creative freedom found in music that prioritises raw, unfiltered reality over mainstream artifice.

Matthew Cole states,

I think what draws us to this type of music, just like everyone else, is the absolute raw emotion. We all grew up listening to hardcore, and I think that allows you to see the world in a completely different light – both more creatively and intellectually. Not being raised on music that had nothing real to say was the best thing that happened to us.
