Jenny Gillespie Mason Shares Atmospheric New Single “Medicine of Light”

Singer-songwriter Jenny Gillespie Mason has released “Medicine of Light,” the second single from her upcoming album In the Safety of the Light, out June 12th, 2026, via Native Cat Recordings. Produced by Noah Georgeson, the track transforms from a delicate piano sketch into a spacious acoustic folk hymn, offering a breathtaking glimpse into what promises to be one of the year’s most extraordinary acoustic releases.

The track highlights the fruitful creative partnership between Mason and Georgeson, renowned for his work with legendary folk artists like Joanna Newsom and Vashti Bunyan. Originally conceived as a brief piano interlude, the song was entirely reimagined in the studio to give its profound themes room to expand. Shifting the central arrangement to acoustic guitar unlocked a breathing, organic environment for the accompanying ensemble, imbuing the final piece with the quiet weight and spiritual stillness of a hymn.

Of the track, Mason explains,

“Medicine of Light was first written on the piano and was much shorter, almost like an interlude. When Noah Georgeson and I discussed how tracking would go and the players we would bring in for the session, I realized by transferring it to acoustic guitar I could make the song fuller and longer because I felt it would not only be more fun to arrange, but that the message of the song deserved more space; it’s almost like a hymn, I think.”

With In the Safety of the Light arriving next month, Mason is quietly establishing herself as a vital contemporary voice in modern folk. The new single acts as a perfect bridge into the upcoming record, balancing intimate introspection with expansive, timeless arrangements. As the album release approaches, “Medicine of Light” positions itself as the emotional anchor of the entire project.
