Singer-songwriter Jade Bird is set to drop her first full-length album on April 19th via Glassnote Records. In true folk storytelling fashion, twenty-one-year-old Bird wrote all twelve herself. The self-titled debut album was produced by Simone Felice and David Baron (Bat for Lashes, Shawn Mendes).

Lottery displays Jade Bird’s incredible voice along with her attention to lyrical detail. She draws emotion through every word in her story: “You used to tell me/ Love is a lottery/ You’ve got your numbers/ and you’re betting on me.” I Get No Joy is a raspy rant of pure fun.

Jade Bird – My Motto

The latest single, My Motto is for anyone keeping heartbreak at arm’s length. She is digging up raw emotions and putting them into words, this is no easy feat but she does it with grace. Uh Huh is Bird’s true arrival. Her voice is a force on this track, passionate and jarring. The chorus bursts loud enough to start an uproar, and you’ll want to holler her poetry while kicking up dust.

This album is the perfect example of Jade Bird’s astonishing talent and unique perspective. She proves that stripped down can be powerful, and genre is not the law. Pair it with a shot of whiskey and an ex-lover on any night of the week.
