London-based band Hotel Lux has shared their new single, “Nod (To The Retrospect),” taken from their highly anticipated second album, The Bitter Cup, which is set for release on November 14th. The new record marks a new chapter for the band, who took time to rediscover their identities as musicians and as a group of friends as they enter their late twenties.

Of the single, the band say,

Not a love song per se, but a tribute to those early days. A tale of hindsight, a nod to the retrospect

For The Bitter Cup, the band took it upon themselves to self-produce the record at Big Jelly Studios, a decision guitarist Sam Coburn called “entirely necessary.” With a newfound sense of confidence, the band wrote the album completely collaboratively and recorded it live to capture the emotional intensity of their live shows. The result is a project that finds the band at their most vulnerable while also being at their most confident.

The new album follows their 2023 debut, Hands Across The Creek, which earned widespread critical acclaim and was added to BBC 6 Music playlists. Throughout their career, the band has gained a reputation as a powerful live act, with multiple sold-out European tours and support slots for acts like Shame and The Chats.
