Irish multi-talented artist Gavin Friday has unveiled exciting details about his long-awaited upcoming solo album, Ecce Homo. Set for release on the 25th of October through BMG, the new album, produced by Dave Ball and Michael Heffernan of Soft Cell, represents Friday’s first solo project since 2011’s “Catholic.” The announcement is accompanied by the release of the album’s title track and a digital EP of the same name, which includes two remixes and an instrumental version of the song.
An established artist, Friday is best known as the founding frontman of Virgin Prunes, an Irish post-punk band. His career as a songwriter, composer, actor, visual artist, and creative director has spanned four decades and has involved collaborations with various artists. He has contributed music to Academy Award-nominated films, including In The Name of The Father and In America. Friday has also showcased his visual arts in exhibitions and collaborated with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Additionally, he recently contributed to the animated film Peter And The Wolf and the reissuing of classic Virgin Prunes albums and EPs on vinyl.
The album, Ecce Homo, is a mix of powerful electronic and acoustic music, showcasing a range of emotions from anger and independence to love and nostalgia. Self-described as his ‘most honest work yet’ the album is also his most riveting. The single, features intense rhythms and defiant lyrics, challenging the enemies of inclusion and liberty.
