Nottingham quarter Divorce have today announced their debut album, Drive to Goldenhammer, set for release on March 7th, 2025, via Gravity / Capitol. Alongside the announcement, the band have revealed its infectious lead single, ‘All My Freaks’.

Originally formed in mid-2021 by friends Tiger Cohen-Towell (vocals/bass), Felix Mackenzie-Barrow (vocals/guitar), Adam Peter Smith (guitar/synth), and Kasper Sandstrøm (drums), Divorce quickly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the Nottingham DIY scene. Their genre-bending sound and energetic live performances have captivated audiences worldwide, earning them praise from critics and fans alike.

The album’s lead single, ‘All My Freaks’, takes a bold stance against the inflated egos and self-importance prevalent in the music industry, featuring vibrant synths, lively riffs, and unmistakable British irreverence.

Of the track’s themes and the realities of being a musician today, Tiger states:

Being a musician can be brutal. I feel like you hear more and more songs coming from artists purely about the trials and tribulations of being a musician, feeling like you aren’t getting enough, or feeling like you’ve got too much and you don’t deserve it. It’s gotten a bit meta if you think about it. All My Freaks is about that too, written from the perspective of a humorous/tragic caricature of an up-and-coming artist, this song is laughing at our own egos and yet acknowledging the power that they wield. Putting this out as the first offering from our debut album felt fitting, as we are hypothetically straddling our jet skis and crossing the ocean of delusion to hopefully reach the isle of public approval.

Recorded over all four seasons in four recording sessions at The Calm Farm, a studio in North Yorkshire, the band dedicated themselves to Drive to Goldenhammer’s creative process. They were immersed in relentless writing and experimentation, then brought to life by esteemed producer Catherine Marks (boygenius, Foals, and Wolf Alice), and Real World Studios. This results in a record that radiates a natural warmth and an authentic, well-worn charm, encapsulating the essence of the band’s Midlands heritage, while crafting a functional haven in the setting of Goldenhammer.
