CMAT has released her latest single, “Take A Sexy Picture Of Me,” a powerful track hailed as potentially her finest work to date. The song serves as the second offering from her upcoming album, EURO-COUNTRY, which the Irish artist has described as her “most important record” and is slated for release on August 29th.
The new single follows the widespread critical acclaim and significant radio play received by CMAT’s previous release, “Running/Planning,” which was playlisted across BBC Radio 1, BBC 6Music, and BBC Radio 2. Further amplifying her current momentum, CMAT is scheduled to make a guest appearance on the esteemed music program Later…with Jools Holland on May 18th.
Anticipation for CMAT’s upcoming tour is also high, with very limited tickets remaining for her October dates. Notably, several prominent venues, including London’s O2 Academy Brixton and Dublin’s 3 Arena, have already sold out. In addition to her headline shows, CMAT is set to perform at major European festivals such as Primavera, Wide Awake, and Glastonbury, with a series of intimate warm-up gigs for Glastonbury recently announced.
Of the track, CMAT states,
With the internet, every woman is now in the public eye. And no matter who you are, or what you look like, somebody will take umbrage with the fact that you even exist, and there’s no escaping it. ‘Take a Sexy Picture of Me’ was born out of that, because I held back for so long; not out of frustration or sadness for myself, because I AM in the public eye, but I realised it’s actually like this for every woman. It’s all women, all the time. That song is me calling out anyone who criticised my weight or how I looked… and it’s one of the best songs I’ve ever made.
Despite only releasing her debut album in 2020, CMAT has swiftly become a prominent figure in contemporary music. Her upcoming third album, EURO-COUNTRY, follows the critically acclaimed Crazymad, For Me (2023), which significantly broadened her fanbase and earned her nominations for prestigious awards including a BRIT for Best International Artist, the Ivors, the Mercury Prize, and Ireland’s Choice Music Prize (which she previously won for her debut).
CMAT’s rapid ascent has been supported by extensive press coverage, consistent radio airplay, and numerous television appearances, including notable turns on Later…with Jools Holland and The Graham Norton Show. Furthermore, her dynamic live performances with The Very Sexy CMAT Band have solidified her reputation as a compelling and engaging live act, contributing significantly to her widespread recognition.
