Indie pop sensation Clairo has dropped a delightfully quirky music video for her Grammy-nominated track ‘Terrapin,’ off her critically acclaimed album Charm. The video, a dreamlike blend of nostalgia and humour, was directed by none other than Ayo Edebiri (The Bear), who also makes her music video directorial debut here. Adding to the fun is comedy legend “Weird Al” Yankovic, who stars in the video.
‘Terrapin,’ produced by Curfew, features Weird Al in a black-tie getup, navigating a retro film set complete with background dancers (Mykel Marai Nairne & Rachel Gill), 80s-inspired double exposure effects, and a brief appearance by Clairo. Edebiri’s directorial talent shines through, building on her impressive work on The Bear‘s ‘Napkins’ episode, which garnered a DGA nomination.
Charm, known for its warm, intimate atmosphere, has inspired a series of creative music videos. From the wrestling ring featured in the Gold-certified ‘Juna’ video to the yeti bonfire in ‘Sexy to Someone,’ ‘Terrapin’ continues the trend, offering a visually stunning and playfully comedic accompaniment to Clairo’s infectious sound.
