Irish four-piece Bleech 9:3 are ready to take centre stage, announcing their highly anticipated self-titled debut EP, arriving May 15th via Polydor Records. The announcement follows a meteoric rise that has already seen the band earn widespread critical praise from The Guardian, NME, and Kerrang!, alongside heavy rotation on BBC Radio 1 and 6Music. To mark the occasion, the band shared their latest single, “Underrated,” which received its debut spin courtesy of Jack Saunders on BBC Radio 1 last night.
The band’s formation is as compelling as their sound; frontmen Baz Quinlan (vocals/guitar) and Sam Duffy (guitar) first connected at AA, where Baz served as Sam’s sponsor. That foundation of absolute honesty translated directly into their songwriting when the pair relocated from Dublin to London in 2024. “I think the vulnerability of those meetings helped us be a lot more comfortable with each other from the get-go,” the duo reflects. That raw, unfiltered approach is front and centre on “Underrated,” a track Baz describes,
“I wrote it at the end of 2024, it was one of the first Bleech songs that we jammed back then. Bad worship is a theme that runs through the EP. I felt driven to write about how it twists love into something else. How the twisting becomes the thing that you end up wanting.”
The band’s momentum shows no signs of slowing as they prepare for a massive summer touring schedule. Beyond a sold-out headline show at London’s Scala on May 16th, Bleech 9:3 will be hitting the road for high-profile European slots supporting Keo, Wunderhorse, and Nick Cave. They are also set to dominate the festival circuit with confirmed appearances at The Great Escape, Latitude, and Reading & Leeds. Accompanying the release of “Underrated” is a new music video, a sharp, claustrophobic visual that perfectly encapsulates the band’s distinct and intense aesthetic.
