Black Country, New Road today released ‘Happy Birthday,’ a new single heralding their highly anticipated album, ‘Forever Howlong,’ set for release on April 4th via Ninja Tune. Alongside the single, the band revealed plans for an intimate tour in April 2025, where they will perform ‘Forever Howlong’ in its entirety. These shows will precede their extensive US, EU, and UK tours scheduled for later this year.

‘Happy Birthday’ provides a compelling glimpse into the soundscape of ‘Forever Howlong,’ demonstrating the band’s continued exploration of captivating dynamism. The track serves as an emblem of their intuitive songwriting relationship under their new configuration, highlighting the domino effect of ideas that emerged during their writing sessions. This single reinforces the band’s commitment to pushing creative boundaries and embracing a truly collaborative spirit.

Of the track, vocalist Tyler Hyde states,

When I wrote ‘Happy Birthday’ I had Georgia’s song ‘Besties’ in my head while I was writing it. Therefore, the structure of it is heavily influenced by it.

The visual narrative of ‘Happy Birthday’ unfolds through a beautifully crafted stop-motion music video, directed by Lesley-Anne Rose. The animation follows the heartwarming journey of two birds who unite to escape a group of hunters in a forest. Rose, a seasoned stop-motion filmmaker with credits spanning television broadcasts, gallery exhibitions, and collaborations with the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Channel 4, and the BFI, lends her unique artistic touch to the band’s new single.

Black Country, New Road’s intimate shows see them play in Stockport, Edinburgh, Leeds, Birmingham, Southampton, and Norwich. Pre-sale tickets are available on Wednesday before the general sale begins on Friday.
