A Place To Bury Strangers have released their latest single and video, ‘Fear of Transformation,’ a snarling, gothic techno-punk track. The song is taken from their upcoming new album, Synthesizer, which will be released digitally on October 4th and on vinyl on October 25th via Dedstrange.

Following the success of their previous singles, ‘Disgust,’ ‘You Got Me,’ and ‘Bad Idea,’ ‘Fear of Transformation’ continues to showcase the band’s signature blend of noise rock and industrial sounds. The track delves into the struggle of overcoming internal barriers, with frontman Oliver Ackermann explaining:

Sometimes fear builds up and pins you in a cage. A conversation occurs in my head where I have to convince myself to just fucking do something to break out of it.

The accompanying video, directed by Chad Crawford Kinkle, is a visually striking and thought-provoking piece. The story follows a teenage boy who sneaks out from his parent’s house to attend his first Furry party, only to reveal a shocking secret: he’s a werewolf.

A Place To Bury Strangers’ seventh album, Synthesizer, is more than just a collection of songs. It’s a physical entity, a functional synthesizer that you can own by purchasing the vinyl edition. In an era where music is increasingly made with AI and digital tools, Synthesizer is a refreshing reminder of the power of DIY creativity. The album feels deliberately chaotic, messy, and human, a testament to the importance of hands-on experimentation.
