London Collective Y Release Scathing New Single ‘Duplicate’

Born from the “friction” of London’s underground, the collective known as Y have returned with their latest sharp-edged offering, ‘Duplicate.’ Formed by Adam Brennan and Sophie Coppin as a visceral reaction to isolation and boredom, the group has rapidly evolved from a bedroom project into one of the capital’s most essential live acts. Following the momentum of lead singles ‘Skipper’ and ‘May,’ the new track arrives as a precursor to their highly anticipated second EP, set to drop this spring.

Of the single, the band add,

“‘Duplicate’ is a song about narcissists. Control freaks wanting to create a world full of carbon copies of themselves. To echo their beliefs. Just don’t dare fly too high or have an original thought. It’s a cult mentality. It’s a con. A mirage of strength in numbers.”

The release lands in the middle of a breakneck 2026 for the band, who kicked off the year with a spot on Dork Magazine’s HYPE List and a standout performance for DIY’s Hello 2026 series. Having cut their teeth with a “rite of passage” residency at The Windmill and supporting the likes of Fat Dog and Warmduscher, Y are now stepping into the spotlight with a debut UK headline tour this May. With festival appearances at The Great Escape already locked in, the collective is backed by a wave of critical acclaim from The Line Of Best Fit, Clash, and heavy rotation on BBC 6 Music.

Y continue to thrive on a “collective purge” energy, delivering performances that blur the line between a traditional gig and a frantic, cathartic experience. By blending the noise of South London’s avant-garde scene with a ruthless, satirical edge, the group is positioning themselves as the definitive voice for those uninterested in “fitting in.” As they gear up for their May tour to coincide with the EP’s arrival, ‘Duplicate’ serves as a stark reminder that Y is building a world entirely on their own terms.
