London’s seven-piece collective, The Orchestra (For Now), has shared their new single, “Deplore You / Farmers Market.” The brooding track is released just ahead of their eagerly awaited second EP, Plan 76, due out October 31st.
“Deplore You / Farmers Market” serves as a striking marker of the band’s artistic development and their skilful command of dynamics. Though it was the first song the band wrote and performed live, it represents a notable shift from their earlier releases and their signature maximalist sound. The single sees the band strip away their usual dense layers of instrumentation to reveal a candid, emotional core. It slowly builds tension to a near breaking point, ultimately unleashing the powerful, orchestrated uproar that provides the EP’s concluding moment.

It’s a front facing reckoning that explores ambition and fatigue, and the strains of failure and minor success. Deplore You / Farmers Market is one of our most direct songs, so we thought stripping back and exposing ourselves was the right call, letting the song breathe; it’s an experiment in restraint, right up until we can’t keep it in.
The single is supported by a new video showing the band performing the track in a confined bedroom space, interrupted by fever-dream cutaways. These surreal flashes include religious iconography, the violent destruction of instruments, and the chaotic destruction of piles of cash.
