London seven-piece The Orchestra (For Now) has released their new single, “Hattrick,” an explosive first taste of their eagerly awaited second EP, Plan 76. The new record is set to be released on October 31st, following closely on the heels of their critically acclaimed debut EP, Plan 75, which was released earlier this year.

Of the single, the band says,

Like a lot of our songs, ‘Hattrick’ has taken many forms. It began as a sequence of sections that Joe wrote words to, and we altered it into its final shape as the narrative began to emerge from those words. It’s a series of explosions and attempts at recovery and reckoning.

The last few years have seen the band on a meteoric rise, building a reputation on the London live circuit before even officially releasing a single. They’ve played the main stage at Green Man and End of the Road festivals, and their much-anticipated debut ignited a fire among critics and their growing fanbase alike. The band has since sold out exclusive vinyl versions of their EP and earned widespread praise from major music publications.

On Plan 76, the band continues to develop their maximalist approach to what they call “London prog,” expertly blending avant-garde rock theatrics with classical interplay and jazz-infused moments. The new single, “Hattrick,” perfectly showcases this sonic evolution, with its intricate instrumentation and shamanic vocal power. The track swells with cinematic strings and driving rhythms before burning up and giving way to more brooding, ruminative verses, signalling a new era of ambition for the band.

The announcement of Plan 76 comes as The Orchestra (For Now) is enjoying a busy summer filled with festival performances across the UK and EU, including sets at Latitude, Conges Annules, End Of The Road, and the Manchester/Edinburgh Psych Festival. With these performances already behind them, they have more upcoming appearances at events such as Sŵn Festival, Live At Leeds, Les Nuits Botanique, and Iceland Airwaves this autumn. Following these festivals, the group will embark on an extensive UK tour, which will include their largest headline show to date at Scala in London.
