A new punk project from NYC, playfully named NODEGA, is set to make waves with their debut mini-album, Rot In Helvetica, dropping July 18th via Chrysalis. Following the release, the group will embark on a UK tour, leaving many to wonder about the intriguing similarity between their name and that of fellow New York punks, BODEGA.
Rot In Helvetica merges old-school hardcore, thrash, skate-punk, and melodic indie-rock, creating a dynamic sound. Lyrically, the album tackles everything from the mind control of streaming services to a yearning for self-critical change. It’s a defiant collection that shreds through modern disillusionment with unapologetic fury and a glimmer of defiant optimism.
Today, the band release the album’s lead single, ‘QUANTIFY,’ of which they state,
Obey your Wall Street and Silicon Valley masters and continue ranking (and quantifying via number or star) every experience.
The band aims to ‘liberate the wisdom, stupidity, and joy of the teenage state of mind,’ offering a ‘pure at heart Teenager’s’ perspective that loudly says ‘NO!’ to injustices like state-sponsored genocide.
