Witch Post, the collaborative project of Alaska Reid and Dylan Fraser, has returned with two new acoustic reimaginings from their debut EP, Beast. The new versions, “The Wolf (Dusk)” and “Dreaming (Dusk),” strip away the original songs’ layered production to reveal their “raw magic.” These enchanting tracks and their forthcoming live videos offer a new, intimate chapter in the story of the Beast EP.
Born from a “Gemini-like meeting of minds,” the duo came together by a series of coincidences, including the discovery that they are from towns that share the same name. This shapeshifting charm is at the core of their music, embodying a sense of fate in their collaborative project.
Their sound is an intense fusion of Reid’s dark American indie and Fraser’s warped pop, pulling from equal parts “heaven and hell.” This approach results in a harmonic lightness that wrestles with serrated guitars and infernal drums, evoking a new incarnation of the spirit pioneered by bands like the Pixies and Sonic Youth. The duo first sparked intrigue with early singles like “Chill Out” and “Rust,” which garnered praise from a wide range of publications.
