Witch Post return today with their new single “Twin Fawn”, released as the duo set out on a run of UK and European tour dates, including a headline show at The Lexington in London on 10 November. The song captures the duo’s signature balance between shadow and light, pairing sweeping guitar lines with the tender interplay of Alaska Reid and Dylan Fraser’s vocals, like two voices reaching for each other across the noise.
Following the release of their bewitching single “Changeling” earlier this year, “Twin Fawn” marks the next chapter for Witch Post and their growing partnership with Partisan Records, home to Geese, Blondshell, and PJ Harvey. The track finds the pair exploring themes of memory, dislocation, and longing, echoing the dreamlike world-building that first drew attention to their breakout debut EP, Beast.
Speaking about the new song, Alaska shares:
“This song is about chasing memories, or yearning for a misremembered, simpler time. It’s a love letter to Dylan and I’s differing experiences on the West Coast; coyotes, beach glass, driving home at 3am, stuck on the freeway staring at the sunset… As Witch Post, our memories become as fantastical and intertwined as twin fawns.”
Formed by chance, or perhaps fate, Witch Post is the creative collision of two artists from towns sharing the same name, one in Scotland and one in Montana. Alaska’s sound draws from the dark, cinematic edge of American indie, while Dylan brings a pop sensibility refracted through his own warped mirror of production.
