Isle of Wight artist ugly ozo (Jessica Baker) is set to release her debut EP, stargirl, on October 24th via REX RECS. Alongside this announcement, she has shared her brand new single, “madonna,” available today (July 22nd).
“madonna” is described by ugly ozo as a
“grunge-soaked ode to sisterhood, vulnerability, and the bittersweet feeling of watching someone you love grow into themselves, with an overbearing sense of aching protectiveness.”
Having already gained significant attention from key indie publications like DIY Magazine, The Line Of Best Fit, Clash, Rough Trade, and Under The Radar for her lead single “onto a winner,” ugly ozo has also received airplay from BBC 6 Music, Radio X, and KEXP. She is poised to build on early festival appearances at The Great Escape, Isle of Wight, Wanderlust, and Outer Town. Partnered with REX RECS, a new label operating out of London’s REX Studios, ugly ozo’s “contagious musicality” and producer Macks Faulkron’s “chaotic enthusiasm” are showcased throughout this new offering. She is also set to support Bodega and Night Swimming in the coming weeks, with a more extensive live plot to be announced soon.
