Ireland’s most electrifying live band, The Scratch, are back with a new album, Pull Like A Dog, set to drop on March 13, 2026 via Music For Nations / Sony Music Ireland. Recorded at Dublin’s Hellfire Studio with engineer Thomas Donoghue and producer John ‘Spud’ Murphy (Lankum, Black Midi, caroline), the record marks a bold new chapter for the band, blending acoustic and electric textures with their signature trad/metal fusion.
The album’s title track is out today, a full-throttle statement of intent that refuses to play by the rules. Vocalist Daniel Lango explains,
“It’s about tossing aside the idea of apologising for merely existing or hoping that if I keep colouring inside the lines I’ll get what I think I deserve. Mocking myself a bit but also getting the blood going so I’ll grab life by the scruff and be loud about it.”
Shot on the shores of Lough Ree in collaboration with Dublin filmmaker Paul Gleeson, the video captures the band at their most raw and exhilarating.
With the addition of Gary “Gaz” Regan on guitar and backing vocals, completing the line-up alongside Lango, Conor, and Cathal McKenna, The Scratch refine and expand the sound they explored on 2023’s Mind Yourself. That album hit #1 on the Irish Vinyl Charts, #3 on the IRMA Weekly Album Chart, earned a Choice Music Prize nomination, and landed the band features on BBC radio and Netflix’s House of Guinness.
