Ahead of his forthcoming solo album, Lunga, Sydney Minsky Sargeant of Working Men’s Club has unveiled the new single, “Summer Song.” The track is an ironically titled piece that stands in stark contrast to its name. Over a backdrop of psychedelic guitars and synths, Sargeant delivers a sombre message, singing, “Come round another time / In another life / And maybe I won’t feel death’s in my stride.” The single offers a deeper glimpse into the album’s sound, which serves as a beautiful, melodic side-step from the abrasive atmosphere of his work with Working Men’s Club.
Of the single, Sydney states,
It evokes the longing to be taken away from myself and the habits I once had of thinking in certain ways that felt unavoidable.
As one of the North West’s most versatile and acclaimed musicians, Sydney Minsky Sargeant has built a reputation as a creative powerhouse. His seven-year tenure with Working Men’s Club has seen him perform on prestigious stages and earn praise from influential figures like Atticus Ross and Stephen Mallinder. The band was even recently handpicked by LCD Soundsystem to support them on their Brixton Academy residency. Minsky Sargeant will soon embark on a new chapter with his first solo live performance at the end of this month, before making his London debut in September at Stone Nest.
