Today, Peckham-born musician Sam Akpro announces his debut album, ‘Evenfall,’ set for release on March 28th via ANTI-.
Evenfall comprises ten tracks, including the previously released singles ‘Chicago Town’ and the BBC 6 Music A-List favourite, ‘Death By Entertainment.’ The album weaves an immersive sonic tapestry, a South London noir dreamscape that’s both serrated and ethereal, psychedelic yet undeniably forceful.
Alongside the album announcement, Akpro unveils the lead single and title track, ‘Evenfall.’ This captivating track perfectly embodies the album’s towering world-building and the palpable chemistry at its core. Blending shoegaze-infused guitars with a driving beat and Akpro’s evocative vocals, ‘Evenfall’ is destined to become an essential soundtrack for late-night journeys.
Akpro describes the track as existing ‘somewhere between a before and after space in time, where moments have passed & where events are yet to take place’
‘Evenfall’ is accompanied by a captivating introductory visual, directed by Pedro Takahashi, who previously collaborated with Akpro on the MVA-nominated ‘Death By Entertainment’ video. This mesmerising piece perfectly encapsulates the album’s dusky, inner-city soundscapes.
