Perth musician, Peter Bibby, today has unveiled his latest single, ‘Terracotta Brick’, the latest to be lifted from his upcoming album, Drama King, set for release May 31st via Spinning Top Records.

Contrasting with his previous single, ‘Fun Guy’, ‘Terracotta Brick’ takes on a more subdued tone and serves as a heartfelt tribute to an honest tradesperson, further establishing Bibby as a voice for the Australian working class.

Bibby explains of the single:

I came up with this little ditty while I was working as a brickie’s labourer. I took a direct quote or two from the boss, he was full of great lines. He was also full of piss on a regular basis, and it got me thinking about the connection between the building industry and flat-out, celebrated alcoholism.

Bibby’s recent transition to a teetotal lifestyle has led him to frequently ponder over the concept of “celebrated alcoholism” in his recent songwriting, ‘I tried to make a beautiful, sad song about the whole topic and I for one think I succeeded. Dan (Luscombe) didn’t like my guitar solo, but he also never worked on a construction site, so he obviously didn’t understand the guitar technique I was using, a little technique I like to call ‘tradie’s tears’.”

Peter Bibby is set to embark on the Drama King Australian tour soon. During this tour, Bibby’s Big Horse band will perform for four nights at the Buffalo Club in Fremantle before moving on to Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide. Full dates are listed below.
