Los Angeles alternative hardcore outfit Militarie Gun have announced a deluxe edition of their acclaimed album God Save The Gun, set for release on August 7th via Loma Vista Recordings. To mark the announcement, the band has shared the new single “World’s Always Burning,” featuring Mannequin Pussy.
The three extra tracks included on the deluxe release were originally written during the main album sessions. However, the band ultimately held them back after realising they signalled an outward shift in perspective, moving beyond the deeply internal themes explored on the core record. Vocalist Ian Shelton reflected on this evolution in mindset:
Everything in ‘God Save The Gun’ became so focused on the internal, that when it came to fitting these songs in, it felt like they had stepped outside of that perspective. In my head these songs started to form into the feeling of finally coming to after being so caught up in your own head, and then realising the rest of the world is still out there and you haven’t been actively participating.
The announcement follows the band’s recent performance on Elevator Music and their stripped-back NPR Tiny Desk set. Currently wrapping up a European headline tour, Militarie Gun will head back to North America this autumn for their “20 Songs for 20 Dollars” tour. Starting in September, the 27-date run will feature $20 tickets across all cities, including stops in Philadelphia, Chicago, Toronto, and Los Angeles, with support from Softcult, Shady Nasty, and Dazy. The band is also slated to appear at New York’s CBGB Festival and support Sex Pistols on select West Coast dates.
