19-year old Manchester based alt-indie artist Joshua Epithet has just released his brand new single You Genuinely Concern Me. Addressing the acceptance of consequences, the song is equally influenced by 90s britpop and hiphop elements. Listen below.

Josh comments on the track:

It’s about looking back on an argument or situation, thinking about what you should’ve said, and reimagining it to save yourself from dwelling on the past.

He has spent the past few years dividing his time between the UK and US, which is evident in his list of influences – ranging from Blur and The Streets to the Childish Gambino and Tyler, The Creator.

When I was growing up, the type of music I was into, America was doing it way better… But I’ll rep Britain all day long – as much as my Irish mum allows me to. I want to be part of this new wave of British musicians.

The new single follows his debut release Eight Years Old With An Iphone, which has had impressive organic Spotify support, and more recently received some 6 Music spins c/o Steve Lamacq and Amy Lamé, and a Radio 1 introducing spin on Gemma Bradley’s show.

On top of that, Josh has worked on music with a variety of international artists, including Indiana-based Lucas Lex and Canadian indie-pop songstress Nep to fellow British acts FINLINCE!, Zack Teale and Cian Jay to Thai artist Salads and Portugal’s Nana Lourdes.

You Genuinely Concern Me is part of our New Indie Bands playlist.
