London art-rock outsiders Flat Party return with a bold new double A-side, ‘C4mGrrl’ / ‘Mother’s Boy’, marking their first release since 2024’s acclaimed EPs It’s All Been Done Before and their self-titled debut. The lead track, ‘C4mGrrl’, dives into the murky intersections of online intimacy and warped digital identities, written by frontman Jack Lawther as a narrative about a man drawn into an emotional entanglement with a cam girl. The single arrives as a stylistic curveball in the band’s evolving soundworld.

Built on a buzzing, siren-like synth motif, ‘C4mGrrl’ veers between shadowy, blue-lit verses and a sharp, teeth-baring chorus. It also features a standout bridge from Taylor Pollock of Djank, who appears in the track’s surreal accompanying video.

“‘C4mGrrl’ is a song about porn addiction told from the perspective of a man cheating on his partner through an online relationship with a cam girl… It’s obviously a fabricated story, but the intention is to talk about a real issue that is not often discussed.”

Lawther explains, adding that the track originally sparked ideas for a concept album about “terrible men.”

Sonically, the new material sees Flat Party experimenting with rawer, more exposed textures, citing Tyler, The Creator’s IGOR’S THEME and Crack Cloud’s Red Mile as key influences, without losing their flair for theatrical, distorted art-rock. According to Lawther,

“This song, and its companion track ‘Mother’s Boy,’ are kind of weird little tangents… We’ve been heading in quite a different direction lately, which might confuse people a bit, but we’re really excited about it.”
