DITZ return with a fearless new single, ‘Don Enzo Magic Carpet Salesman’ — a sprawling, nine-minute, three-part noise-rock odyssey that pushes the boundaries of their sound. Following the release of their album Never Exhale earlier this year, the track captures the band’s live ferocity in full and signals an exciting evolution in their direction. Fierce, hypnotic, and entirely unpredictable, it’s accompanied by the atmospheric B-side ‘Kalimba Song’.
Both tracks will be available on a limited edition 12” via City Slang Records from November 28, with first copies sold exclusively on the band’s upcoming tour.
Frontman C.A. Francis explains,
“Don Enzo began as a demo Jack Looker made after our touring wrapped early in the year. It started as one short movement, but after I added lyrics and sent it back, he returned it with five more minutes of music, creating a three-part structure. The song reflects my frustration with AI art — the first part reacting to the issue, the second written from the AI’s perspective, and the final section representing the last gasp of real art before being overwhelmed by artificial output.”
Speaking on the B-side, Francis adds,
“‘Kalimba Song’ came from a hungover writing session at Brighton’s 17b studio with Jack and Sam Evans. The track grew out of layering random sounds while listening to Portishead and Massive Attack, with the Kalimba sample lifted from a minute of spontaneous noodling.”
